The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including backup quarterback David Blough issuing an open Madden challenge

Earlier this week, the good people at EA Sports released their rookie ratings for the upcoming Madden 20 video game. As is often the case, there were some players who weren’t happy with their ratings. Usually, those players react by showing frustration, but one Cleveland Browns rookie had a completely different reaction to his incredibly low rating.

Undrafted quarterback David Blough saw that the video game makers gave him a score of 48 overall and he seemed to believe that was the lowest rating ever for someone at his position. Rather than get mad, he had fun with it.

Blough issued an open challenge to gamers saying that anyone who can win the Super Bowl and NFL MVP with him on All-Madden mode will be given $250. The question now is whether or not someone can claim that prize.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Browns quarterback David Blough offers up Madden challenge — Dan Labbe, Cleveland.com

"“That’s right. There’s $250 in it for you if you can lead a team with Blough as the quarterback to a Super Bowl while winning MVP for Blough, all while doing it on All-Madden mode. (It’s been a while since I’ve fired up a Madden, but that sounds like a pretty tough mode.) The game itself will probably run you around $60, so that’s a cool $190 profit if you can pull it off.”"

The best part about this story isn’t the challenge, but the fact that EA Sports responded to the tweet Blough sent out and said that Tom Brady started in the 50s — and actually, he started as QB No. 12 on the Patriots. So, there’s hope Blough can become a star, right?

How long can the Browns keep Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry together? Cleveland Browns 19 questions — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“With average salaries of $18 million for Beckham and $15.1 million for Landry, they give the Browns the highest receiver payroll in the NFL. If they continue to produce at their amazing clip and help catapult the Browns to the Super Bowl, the Browns will likely do everything they can to keep these two BFFs together.”"

The fact is, it’s hard to give everyone what they deserve financially. Cleveland can afford it now because their quarterback is on his rookie contract, but if they want to keep OBJ and Landry together, they may need one of them — or both — to be willing to take slightly less than they could get on the open market. Thankfully, that’s not a conversation we need to get serious about for a couple of years.

3 players who need more freedom in 2019

In honor of the 4th of July, we at Dawg Pound Daily looked at three members of the Browns who need to be granted more freedom in 2019.

Baker Mayfield and company are doing whatever it takes

Case Kinnamon is impressed that members of the Cleveland Browns are out in Southern California putting work in on their own. As of now, it looks like Baker Mayfield, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, and Rashard Higgins are working together ahead of the season. That’s a great story, which sadly won’t get as much coverage as OBJ sitting out OTAs.
