Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. show off

With Odell Beckham Jr. in the Cleveland Browns offense and catching passes, Baker Mayfield should be feeling dangerous fairly often during the regular season.

During the first day of training camp, Mayfield and Beckham were regularly connecting on plays, with Beckham making several highlight-reel catches, including a leaping grab on the sidelines. The two also connected on a touchdown in a red-zone drill.

When Beckham missed most of Cleveland’s offseason program, the biggest criticism of Beckham’s absence was that he would not be building chemistry with Mayfield. But after Beckham was with the team for the mandatory workouts and some workouts during their off time, it was clear that the two already have built solid chemistry.

It was a great sign for Cleveland’s offense, as the two were able to make the connections on just the first day of practice. With more than a month until the season starts, there will be plenty of time to continue to build their chemistry.

Also, Beckham should be able to familiarize himself with the offense, which would likely include some help for Mayfield. So even with Beckham doing his own work outside of the team’s facility during the offseason, there should be no concerns about his chemistry with Mayfield.
