Training camp is barely underway for the Cleveland Browns, but that doesn’t mean players aren’t already making their presence felt. Here are three examples of some young players doing just that.

2019 training camp is underway for the Cleveland Browns as the season we have all been waiting for is finally beginning. While it is early, we at least are starting to see some of the stars stand out in camp, but there have been other players turning heads as well.

With all eyes on players such as Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham, Jr., Jarvis Landry, and Myles Garrett, the Browns have had some others step up and make plays during the first week of practices as well.

Here, we check out three players who are turning heads early — although we need to start by mentioning the pairing we have been dying to see all year.

Goes without saying: Odell Beckham, Jr., Baker Mayfield connection

We all knew Odell Beckham, Jr. and Baker Mayfield would hit it off. The new superstar wide receiver and the current face of the franchise had already been working together off the field and No. 13’s addition to the team felt like it was more than a year in the making — and it didn’t take long for us to get a glimpse of how this thing will go.

Hayden Grove of Cleveland.com was on hand to witness the first camp connection between the stars and it was an amazing play as Beckham pulled in a pass despite double coverage. Mayfield laid the ball into the one spot where it couldn’t be taken by the defender who was all over OBJ, and the wideout made the impressive grab as he used the Stretch Armstrong technique to extend his arms as far as they could go to haul in the pass.

As beautiful as this was, we would be fools to think there won’t be hiccups along the way — and we have already seen some misfires from Mayfield in camp — but that’s expected as the Browns are working with a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken. They aren’t completely changing the offense, but there will be some new wrinkles that will take time to work through.

Still, it’s encouraging to see the connection between the two biggest names on the roster, but with OBJ’s ability to get deep and Matyfield’s accuracy down the field, this kind of went without saying.
