Cleveland Browns News: Otto Graham to be honored with statue
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team revealing plans to honor Otto Graham with a statue outside of FirstEnergy Stadium
Currently, there’s only one Cleveland Browns player to have his statue in front of their home stadium as running back Jim Brown was honored back in 2016 with a sculpture. Now three years later, Brown will have some company.
Team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam announced plans to unveil a second statue as they will place one of Otto Graham on the property this coming season.
Set to unveil in September, this effigy will honor the best signal-caller the team has ever had. Graham, who played for Cleveland from 1946 through 1955 won three NFL Championships and four AAFC titles while under center.

Browns to honor Otto Graham with statue at FirstEnergy Stadium — Andrew Gribble
"“As we celebrate the NFL’s 100th season, we are honored to pay tribute to Otto Graham with this timeless sculpture that will properly recognize him not only as one of the Browns’ top players but also as one of pro football’s greatest all-time quarterbacks,” said Dee and Jimmy Haslam."
This coming season, the Browns will unveil their second statue outside of FirstEnergy Stadium as Otto Graham will join legendary running back Jim Brown. It’s hard to argue any two players have meant more to this franchise than these two, so adding Graham makes a lot of sense.
Browns LB Sione Takitaki could earn playing time with run-stuffing ability
A third-round pick out of BYU, linebacker Sione Takitaki is already turning heads with his play and could earn snaps early thanks to his ability to stuff the run.
What we’ve learned through the first 5 practices of Browns camp — Daryl Ruiter, 92.3 The Fan
"“First and foremost, all the questions and talk about whether Freddie Kitchens can handle the big personalities was a waste of hot air. Kitchens has been in command demanding accountability, teamwork and leadership from his players. Whether it’s making players run for lack of focus penalties or fighting or putting his arm around someone after they didn’t make a play, Kitchens clearly has this. Don’t let his folksy southern charm fool you. He just doesn’t need to shout profanities across the field to demonstrate the quality of coach that he is.”"
It was really kind of comical the way so many thought Freddie Kitchens couldn’t handle the big personalities on the Browns roster. Anyone who has paid attention to him should know that he was the perfect person for the job due to his personality. That was Ruiter’s biggest takeaway from the first five days of camp, although he has plenty more gems as well.
Freddie Kitchens wants Austin Corbett to step up
Freddie Kitchens didn’t sound too happy when discussing the right guard situation for Cleveland. The hope is that Austin Corbett will rise to the occasion, but so far he hasn’t had any separation from Kyle Kalis or Eric Kush.
