The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know including Baker Mayfield’s willingness to confront wide receivers

This is Baker Mayfield’s team now, there’s no doubt about it. The Cleveland Browns may have wanted to take things slow when they took the electric quarterback out of Oklahoma first overall in 2018, but he had different plans.

Once No. 6 got on the field, the entire team looked better. He has a contagious confidence which carried them to a 7-8-1 record while going 5-2 in the final seven weeks. Now, he enters this season as the face of Cleveland football, and he’s not afraid of what that entails.

We’ve seen that during the first six Training Camp practices as he’s shown he’s not afraid of anything — even confronting his own top wideouts when necessary.

Mayfield not afraid to confront Browns’ top WRs — Jake Trotter, ESPN

"“”Those guys know that’s a big part of our offense. And they know that,” said Mayfield, who can be a prolific playmaker through the air scrambling outside the pocket. “It’s just the fact that if we get lazy and let things slide — we need to be open to communicating right now.”"

Mayfield added that this is what good teams do, as he and the wideouts have no problem with confrontation — even though it can get heated while playing an emotional game. The good thing is, his play has been good enough that the receivers are willing to listen to him.

Browns training camp offensive report: The kickers are struggling — Dan Labbe, cleveland.com

"“They need to keep competing,” head coach Freddie Kitchens said. “That’s all I have to say about it right now. They just need to keep competing and forget about today and move on to the next day. I’d like for them to move on from kick to kick, but let’s start with a day-to-day thing right now.”"

Greg Joseph had a miss on Wednesday, but overall he’s been far more accurate than Austin Seibert. Still, the team likely wants Seibert to pull this competition out considering they used a draft pick on him this spring.

Fresh Takes: Observations from Day 6 of Browns training camp — Nick Shook, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“Williams got his first shot with the first team in this camp Wednesday and gave us some proof that those concerns might have been overblown.”"

The concerns Shook mentions are in reference to Greedy Williams’ ability as a tackler. He had a good day in that regard which may silence some of the doubters.
