3. Guard battle becoming clear?

So far, the Browns have continued to shuffle things around at right guard. They’ve used Austin Corbett, Kyle Kalis, and Eric Kush in the role and on Thursday, it was again Corbett’s turn. The No. 33 overall pick from Nevada is transitioning from tackle in college to guard in the NFL — and it’s not going as quickly as the team hoped.

General manager John Dorsey clearly believed in Corbett as he not only took him high in the draft, but he also sent Kevin Zeitler to the New York Giants. Still, he hasn’t separated himself from the pack — at least not publicly yet.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken spoke on the battle and suggested the team already knows who they think will start — although, his wording was far from a definitive answer and he didn’t go out on a limb to name any of the three competitors.

"“To say that we don’t have an idea (who will start) is probably a little bit of a stretch.”  — Monken on the right guard battle via Pat Chiesa of WKYC."

Even if we aren’t getting much from Monken other than the team having an idea, that could still mean things are becoming more clear. A lot of the success, or lack thereof, on offense, is going to be due to the play of the offensive line. There are a couple of questions about that unit, but this one remains the most concerning.
