5 Things to watch in Cleveland Browns first preseason game

2. Greedy’s confidence
Another interesting piece of information to see on the unofficial depth chart was the way the cornerback position rounded out. On the starting team opposite Denzel Ward is Terrance Mitchell and not second-round pick Greedy Williams.
So far in some of the practices, the Browns top pick has taken snaps with the first team and the goal is that he will be the permanent starter opposite Ward one day.
Apparently, he’s not there yet but that’s not a terrible thing. Mitchell is no slouch so it’s not as if Williams had an easy path ahead of him. He needs to play to the best of his ability to be able to unseat the returning starter and Thursday will be his first chance to try and do just that.
Should the chart hold true and Mitchell winds up starting, Williams will still get plenty of snaps. Listed as the third corner, he could end up being a de facto starter, especially if the Washington Redskins employs a three-receiver set often.
When on the field, the most important thing for Williams will be his confidence. Despite being a rookie, he has the talent and skill to stick with any receiver in the NFL, he just needs to trust his instincts and go play ball.
