2. Mack Wilson gets a pick

Alabama head coach Nick Saban had no problem letting it be known that he felt as though linebacker Mack Wilson should have stayed in college for another season. For a while, it even looked as though he was going to do that as his mom was saying he would return and play for the Crimson Tide in 2019.

Wilson decided it was best for him to go pro but it seemed as though the NFL scouts agreed with Saban. Once considered an early day two prospect, Wilson lasted until the fifth round as Cleveland took him at No. 155 overall. That lit a fire under Wilson, who has come into camp ready to play. Wilson has continually been in a position to make plays and has come up with several interceptions as well as a couple of pick-sixes.

His ability to get in front of the ball and take it away shouldn’t be surprising. Wilson was considered a good coverage linebacker and he had four interceptions in 2017 and another two this past season. He returned one of his picks for a touchdown as a sophomore and recorded five pass defenses in his final year.

Cleveland could surely use that as they struggled last season to cover tight ends and running backs out of the backfield. Wilson, who isn’t expected to start as a rookie, should continue to make his presence felt and the second prediction for their preseason opener is that he again gets his hands on the ball and gets himself a takeaway.
