2. Is Mack Wilson a one-hit-wonder?

No defender made more waves in the opening preseason game for the Browns than Mack Wilson did. The fifth-round pick out of Alabama had a chip on his shoulder after falling as far as he did in the draft and he made the most out of his first chance to show what he could do in the pros.

Wilson’s first big play came early in the second quarter when he read rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins eyes and stepped in front of a pass intended for running back Byron Marshall and intercepted it. After grabbing the pass, Wilson made a few moves which included avoiding a tackle from Haskins before diving in the end zone to complete the pick-six.

He wasn’t done there as he made another big play in the fourth quarter. This time, Wilson got in front of a pass from Josh Woodrum intended wide receiver Kelvin Harmon and took the ball away for his second interception of the night. Wilson also had three tackles and walked away from the game looking to be the steal of the draft.

What he needs to be able to do is build on this. Not everything is going to be easy and he won’t get two interceptions every night. Wilson will have to prove that he’s not just a player who flashed in his first game with two big plays but instead has to also prove he can do the little things required to be a star in the NFL.
