3 Cleveland Browns who need to play well against Indianapolis Colts
By Dan Justik
The Cleveland Browns face off against the Indianapolis Colts for their second preseason game of the year with these three Browns needing to make their mark.
The Cleveland Browns enter their second preseason game of 2019 against the Indianapolis Colts after an impressive 30-10 victory over the Washington Redskins.
Several Browns made plays during the preseason opener, whether it be a player from the first-team or all the way down to the third-team. There were also multiple Browns who helped their chances of making the final roster with their performances.
However, there were also some Cleveland players who did not have the performances they were expected to. With the Browns having such a competitive roster in 2019, some players cannot have poor performances during the preseason.

There are also some Browns who may have a guaranteed spot on the roster, but their roles for the regular season could be diminished because of their preseason performance. So no matter who it is, it is hard for any Browns to struggle in the preseason.
Here is a look at the players who need to turn it around or stand out even more during the second preseason game on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Honorable Mention: Drew Stanton
Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens said during the offseason he was comfortable having Drew Stanton as the backup quarterback for the 2019 season. Kitchens has been around Stanton for seven seasons, dating back to their time with the Arizona Cardinals, so he is familiar with what Stanton can bring to the position.
However, Stanton’s performance against the Redskins could not have been reassuring for Kitchens. Stanton made several errant throws, completing three of his eight pass attempts for 63 yards.
Although Stanton may still be the backup quarterback, he may have increased competition after Garrett Gilbert played well in the preseason opener. It may be hard for Gilbert to overtake Stanton, but another poor performance from Stanton against the Colts could potentially close the gap before the final two games of the preseason.
