Mack Wilson

One question on the mind of every Browns fan should be, “Can Mack Wilson do it again?” In week one, the Alabama product looked like every bit of a defensive superstar for the Browns at the linebacker position. With the linebacking corps lacking in depth for Cleveland, Wilson could be one of general manager John Dorsey‘s best “diamond in the rough” draft picks.

Last season, Dorsey was able to steal away linebacker/defensive end Genard Avery in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Avery turned into a hybrid weapon for the Browns on defense and looks to seriously factor into their plans for the future. Dorsey dove into the fifth round again this season and fished out Mack Wilson.

In preseason week one against the Redskins, Wilson was consistently in the right place at the right time. This uncanny knack that he has for finding the football netted him two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and two passes defensed during the game.

If Wilson can keep this production up, he will likely find himself in a starting linebacker spot sooner rather than later. Keep an eye on No. 51 for the Browns; John Dorsey may have found himself a keeper in the middle of the defense.
