Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns celebrate UFC’s Stipe Miocic’s victory

Cleveland native and UFC fighter Stipe Miocic won the UFC heavyweight championship Saturday, with Baker Mayfield and other Cleveland Browns celebrating.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has quickly been adopted as one of Cleveland’s own because of the support he has shown for the city. That was no different on Saturday night when Mayfield showed his support for Cleveland native and UFC fighter Stipe Miocic.
Miocic headlined UFC 241 Saturday night against Daniel Cormier to attempt to reclaim the UFC heavyweight championship he lost to Cormier over a year ago. And after a fourth-round TKO, Miocic won the belt and will be returning it to Cleveland.
The victory for the soon-to-be 37-year-old Cleveland native did not go unnoticed by Mayfield, who quickly showed his excitement for Miocic on Instagram. The Browns quarterback showed the same excitement that he has shown on the field, screaming in support for Miocic immediately after the victory.
Miocic is known to be a die-hard Cleveland sports fan and is regularly seen at Cleveland sporting events, including several Browns games. And current and former Browns players, including Mayfield, shared the love for Miocic that he has shown for all of Cleveland’s sports teams.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett even spent time during the offseason training at Miocic’s gym as Miocic prepared for Saturday’s fight. And ever since the training, Garrett and Miocic have clearly become friends.
Even though Mayfield and the other Browns are not Cleveland natives, they have quickly grown an affinity for the city and its sports teams and athletes. No matter who it is, they go out and support the other Cleveland athletes and are not afraid to show it. In fact, it was at a Cleveland Indians game where Mayfield showed off his legendary shotgunning skills.
The Cleveland fan base enjoys when the athletes on their teams show an appreciation for the city they are playing in. With the amount of support and praise the Browns are giving to the city and its sports teams, there is no doubt that the city will reciprocate that love when the Browns take the field for the 2019 season.
And even after a grueling fight that will take a little while for Miocic to recover from, it is a pretty good bet that Miocic will be in attendance when the Browns take the field for their home opener on September 8 and have the same excitement the Browns players had for him.
