Dud: The pass catcher’s hands

Demetrius Harris is taking over for Darren Fells this season, who was an underrated player in the Browns offense. He didn’t have a great game in this one as he had a pass go through hands. The next drive, Harris was called for a holding penalty as well, which isn’t the way he wanted to stand out for his new franchise.

As for the problem pulling in the pass, he wasn’t alone in this regard. D.J. Montgomery also dropped a pass on the opening drive, which was unfortunate as he did this just a couple of plays after making an impressive 21-yard catch on third-and-11 from their own 16.

The drops continued in the second half as Derrick Willies let a good pass from David Blough slip through his hands. There was also a drop by Dorian Baker on a second-and-20. This was right after a holding penalty on Corbett and could have helped them by giving them a more manageable third-down.

Overall, it was still a good night for Cleveland pass catchers as each of the players who made drops also had some good plays to remember — with the exception of Harris, unfortunately. Montgomery ended up with three receptions for a team0high 77 yards, Willies brought in a touchdown reception, and Baker had a 23-yard catch.
