There will be some tough cuts made when the Cleveland Browns trim their roster to 53 players. These three guys will do all they can to make that decision even more difficult to make

This Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns will hist the Detroit Lions in the fourth and final preseason game. Cleveland has already come out and said they won’t be playing any of their starters — which is the norm for this week — but that doesn’t mean there’s no reason to tune in.

Week 4 of the preseason won’t have the star power that drives the NFL, but it will have the intrigue. Jobs will be on the line here as many players are giving it one last effort to put good film out there as the coaches and general managers make the cut down to 53.

Here, we look at three such players who will be trying to play for a job in this one. Preseason Week 4 sure won’t be meaningless to them.

Bonus Battle: Anthony Zettel, EDGE

A surprise cut by the Detroit Lions in 2018, Anthony Zettel was quickly added to the Browns roster once he became available. He was fresh off a breakout season which saw him record 43 tackles and rack up 6.5 sacks.

That made it seem as though he would be a great depth piece behind Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah last year. Unfortunately, Zettel never really found his footing and had just 14 tackles and no sacks.

This season, he looked to be fighting for a job but with Chad Thomas dealing with a neck injury, the team will likely want to keep the experienced Zettel over an undrafted rookie such as Wyatt Ray — even if Ray may have more upside.

Still, Zettel hasn’t completely locked up a job so he may need to show the Browns on Thursday that he’s the player they thought he was back when they claimed him in 2018.
