The Cleveland Browns got their first win of the season by knocking off the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Here were the ones who stood out as both studs and duds

Just as they did in 2018, the Cleveland Browns got their first win of the season under the bright lights against the New York Jets. Last year, it was the first appearance for Baker Mayfield who filled in for an injured Tyrod Taylor and led them to a come-from-behind victory at home.

This time, they were on the road facing a Jets backup quarterback in Trevor Siemian, who ended up leaving the game with an ankle injury. Luke Falk replaced him but it didn’t matter either way as they were in full control throughout the game en route to a convincing 23-3 win.

Defensively, they were all over the quarterbacks for the Jets as they kept them from getting any sort of rhythm whatsoever. On offense, they started out slow but made enough plays to give them a win and to also build confidence as they look to continue stacking up some wins.

Here, we look back over their big win and pick out who performed well and who left something to be desired with this week’s version of the studs and duds.

Notable Omission: T.J. Carrie

Entering this game, cornerback T.J. Carrie had a tough assignment. The Cleveland slot corner was set to cover Jamison Crowder, the Jets slot receiver who signed in the offseason after spending the past few seasons with the Washington Redskins.

His debut was impressive as he was able to haul in 14 passes which meant Carrie could be busy in this one. As it stands, he was busy but you couldn’t tell. Carrie covered Crowder throughout most of the night and kept him incredibly quiet.

Crowder didn’t record a pass until the fourth quarter, but by that time the game was already decided as Cleveland was well in control. Carrie also found himself in great position as he recovered a Le’Veon Bell fumble that was forced by Joe Schobert.
