The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Myles Garrett trying to fight off his new reputation.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett had quite a game against the New York Jets, racking up three sacks, which helped him take over the lead league in sacks.

But on his way to doing so, he also compiled two roughing the passer penalties against the Jets, which also included injuring Jets quarterback Trevor Siemian, who is now out for the rest of the 2019 season.

Despite proving to be one of the most ferocious pass rushers in the NFL, Garrett is now viewed as a dirty player. Because his performance against the Jets was seen on a primetime slot, many people saw his two roughing the passer penalties, which changed the perception around Garrett.

Myles Garrett says he’s not a dirty player: ‘That’s not me’ – Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“I know who I am and the guys within these walls know who I am and that’s not me,’’ he said Wednesday. “I’m not going to do anything to try and hurt this team or take out any player outside the rule book. I’m just going to keep playing this game the way it’s supposed to be played and that’s violently but passionately.”"

Garrett has proven he is a relentless pass rusher, but has struggled to adjust to the new rules protecting quarterbacks. Although he is prone to committing penalties, including roughing the passer penalties, he should not have a reputation as a dirty player. Especially considering Siemian’s injury happened in a fluke manner.

Joe Schobert continues to prove the Browns need to pay up

The Browns have received good play from their linebackers in the first two games, spearheaded by Joe Schobert. Schobert’s performance has Randy Gurzi believing the Browns have to sign Schobert to an extension after his consistent performance.

Watched: Beckham says NFL has ‘different’ rules for him – Tom Withers, The Associated Press

"Beckham said Wednesday that he believes the league is holding him to a different standard than other players, pointing to Monday night’s game against the Jets as an example of how he’s being singled out.“I don’t know if my rule book is specific to the rest of the league,” he said. “I think I have a different rule book.”"

Despite all of the talk about Odell Beckham Jr. wearing a watch in the season opener, the decision by the refs to take him off the field during a 3rd and goal because of his facemask was extremely questionable. Beckham’s facemask should have been noticed before kickoff, not during the middle of the game. Because of that, Beckham’s claim could have some substance.

The Cleveland Browns should sign Colin Kaepernick

The Browns were dealt a small blow on Monday after they announced Drew Stanton was placed on injured reserve. But Matthew McFatridge believes the Browns could have an answer by signing Colin Kaepernick as the backup quarterback.
