Confuse and Annoy Jared Goff

Despite what Sean McVay has done to take his quarterback’s career to new heights, Rams quarterback Jared Goff is still a young quarterback trying to make his way in the league. Goff’s touch, accuracy, and arm strength give him an edge over most young quarterbacks, but McVay’s genius offensive schemes are perhaps his greatest asset as a signal-caller.

The Browns need to neutralize Jared Goff and force the Rams to rely on the running game and running back Todd Gurley, who has not seemed quite as explosive this year. Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks will have a full plate with lots of weapons to be thinking about on the Rams’ offense, but Goff is his biggest priority.

Keeping Goff away from receiver Cooper Kupp could be key for Cleveland in shutting down the passing game. Kupp’s five catches for 120 yards in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints provided the spark that the Rams needed to run away with that game.

Myles Garrett needs another huge game like he had against the New York Jets in Week 2. Through two games of the season, Garrett has given opposing quarterbacks nightmares with five sacks on the year already. Garrett beating Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth would give Cleveland a huge edge in the trenches, and could go a long way to getting into Jared Goff’s head in Week 3.
