Nick Chubb was a big reason for the Cleveland Browns offensive explosion vs. the Ravens, and he looks ready to become one of the NFL’s elite running backs.

The Cleveland Browns showed their potential on offense against the Baltimore Ravens, creating explosive play after explosive play. Someone who was making those explosive plays was running back Nick Chubb.

Chubb had an incredible performance against the Ravens, rushing for 165 yards and three touchdowns, including an 88-yard touchdown, on 20 carries. He also caught three receptions for 18 yards.

The Ravens rarely had an answer for Chubb, as they struggled to bring him down even when he they had him wrapped. Chubb was shedding tackles and almost always falling forward when Baltimore was able to bring him down. The only time the Ravens were able to contain Chubb was when defenders were already in his face by the time he received the hand off.

The 23-year-old’s performance highlighted the strengths of Chubb’s ability. He has the strength and balance to run between the tackles and shed tacklers to get yards. But he also has the speed and agility to break free from defenders and run away from them. He is a dynamic running back who is quickly becoming a terror for defenses.

Chubb is the fourth leading rusher in the NFL with 398 yards, only 13 yards behind the No. 1 leading rusher, Christian McCaffrey. Chubb also has four touchdowns this season and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

With his ability to run off the edge or between the tackles, Chubb is a nightmare for defenses to game plan against. The Browns can use him in a variety of ways and he is almost always going to get a couple of yards when he has the ball in his hands.

Even since his rookie season, Chubb has been performing at a high level. He has made his fair share of explosive runs already in his career and does not seem to be slowing down that trend. With his talent, explosive plays could become regular for him.

The Browns are quickly relying on Chubb and making him a key component of their game plan, and for good reason. With his success running the ball, defenses are going to be forced to keep extra defenders up to the line of scrimmage to limit him as much as possible. That will create room to operate for the passing offense, especially off play-action.

Chubb is quickly emerging as a top running back in the NFL. And it may not take too long before he is considered one of the elite running backs in the NFL. He has all the makings of a star running back, and Sunday’s performance against the Ravens could start to help push him into the elite running back category.
