Predictions for the Cleveland Browns Monday night game against San Francisco
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 of the 2019 NFL Season. Members of the Dawg Pound Daily crew predict the final score for the Monday Night Football showdown
For the third time in the first five weeks, the Cleveland Browns will be featured in a primetime football game. They were already on Monday Night Football in Week 2, which was their first win of the year.
They disposed easily of the New York Jets, who were down to their third-string quarterback Luke Falk following an injury to backup Trevor Siemian. They followed that game up with a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Los Angeles Rams, which was a seven-point loss that had a lot of bandwagon fans jumping ship.
They lured some of them back in — although the loyal fans never needed that — with a win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Now, they’re ready for another big test as they go into Monday Night Football against an undefeated San Francisco 49ers team.
Not only are the Niners 3-0, but they’re also fresh as they’re coming in off their bye week. They’re led by a familiar face in Kyle Shanahan, the former Cleveland offensive coordinator who is infamous for his 32-slide powerpoint presentation where he asked for his release following his lone season with the Browns in 2014.
It’s a very important game for Cleveland as they have yet to put together back-to-back strong outings. Their two wins each came after losses — the one to the Rams and the disaster in Week 1 we will never speak of. A second-straight win would be nice but they really just need to show that they have their identity and can compete with anyone.
