After a defeat at the hands of Seattle and the referees, the Cleveland Browns find themselves at 2-4 heading into their bye week. In a season where the expectations are to make the playoffs, they officially have no more room for error.

The Cleveland Browns 2019 season has not gone the way that they had envisioned it going. Actually, the Browns season hasn’t played out the way that anyone envisioned it going. Not the fans, the media, the pundits, the critics, or the haters. Literally anyone.

Sitting at 2-4 with the defending Superbowl Champions, the New England Patriots, waiting for them after the bye week, the Browns need to stop the bleeding. With 10 games remaining on the season, the ship has to be righted immediately. Any wiggle room that the Browns had going into the season is officially gone.

The common theme being used to describe the Browns season to this point is: (a) all of the ‘hard’ games are in the first eight games, (b) after the Patriots game the rest of the schedule is ‘cake’, and (c) the Browns will be able to ‘stack wins’ on the back-half of the schedule.

For the sake of argument, let’s just say that statement (a) is true, and statement (b) has to be the Browns saving grace. Here is the Browns first four games after they play the Patriots: On the road vs the Denver Broncos, and then a three-game homestand vs the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Miami Dolphins.

The Broncos have the same record as the Browns currently. The Broncos also just blanked the Tennessee Titans, the very same Titans that took the Browns to the woodshed in the season opener. With the game in Denver, that is no cakewalk.

After the trip to Denver, the Browns come home to face the Bills. The 4-1 Bills are undefeated on the road this season. Defense travels and the Bills get after it on that side of the ball. That game is definitely not a cakewalk.

After the Bills, the Browns get the Steelers at home on a short week. The Steelers, who are currently on their third-string quarterback, have not rolled over and accepted their death. They too sit at 2-4 on the season, and just like everyone else the Browns have faced so far, the Steelers will get up for their chance to take it to the champions of the offseason. The Steelers will never be a cakewalk for the Browns, ever.

Then the Browns will face the Miami Dolphins. Well, okay…that game should be a cakewalk. But this is the NFL, and would anyone be surprised if the Dolphins played their best game of the season against the Browns?

Those are just the first four games after the Patriots. Any talk of a ‘cake’ schedule and ‘stacking wins’ is a delusion of grandeur at this juncture. Could the Browns beat these teams? Is it possible for the Browns to go on a run? Absolutely, but only if the Browns fix their issues. And do not be confused, the Browns have multiple issues that need to be addressed.

Next. Clueless in Cleveland, Browns should fire Kitchens. dark

The bye-week is the perfect opportunity to make the necessary corrections to save this season. One more gifted game to the opposition will mean certain doom for any playoff aspirations. The Cleveland Browns are officially out of room for error.
