Cleveland Browns 2019 MVP, OPOY, and DPOY at the bye week
By Leon West
The Cleveland Browns sit at 2-4.They lead the league in penalties and penalty yardage. They’re 30th in turnover differential and have a league-high 11 interceptions thrown. The outlook at the bye week isn’t great, but some players have exceeded offseason expectations.
The future is bright for the Cleveland Browns. They are the third-youngest team in the NFL. Yes, Baker Mayfield has regressed from his stellar rookie season and has 25 interceptions through 20 games played. But there have been other quarterbacks in the past to have slow starts or sophomore slumps and have bounced back to have great careers. Mayfield and the Browns can overcome his shaky start.
In spots, the team has shown promise, and tons of it. They played well against a Super Bowl contending team in Week 3. They played their best game of the year against the division-leading Baltimore Ravens. They scored touchdowns on their first three possessions against the NFC-leading Seattle Seahawks. The talent is there. The blueprint is there. The consistency is not.
If the Browns can get into a groove and stay in it, they can finish the season off strong. The Browns have a quality quarterback who can make all of the throws needed to win football games. They have a stout running back, a core of great wide receivers, and a versatile group of tight ends.
The Browns have every chance of figuring things out. Their favorable schedule down the stretch sets up well for them to be playing their best football as the playoffs draw near. The bye week is here, and criticism is aplenty. However, the team has some bright spots. Here are the Browns’ MVP and offensive and defensive players of the year at the bye week.
