The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Austin Corbett being one of the worst picks in team history.

The Cleveland Browns 2018 NFL Draft class was vital in helping turn the franchise around as quickly as they did. In three of the first four selections, they drafted their franchise quarterback, a potential shutdown cornerback, and a dynamic, bell-cow running back. But mixed in between those picks was Austin Corbett.

Corbett was the first selection of the second round. It was not surprising that the Browns selected an offensive linemen because of their need at left tackle. But it was a surprise they felt Corbett was the guy they needed.

It became quickly evident that Corbett was going to be a miss. Despite being a high draft pick, he could never get on the field. And with the Browns needing help on the offensive line, that was a problem.

Cleveland Browns News

Austin Corbett was one of the Cleveland Browns’ worst draft picks of the last 20 years – Doug Lesmerises, Cleveland.com

"Corbett didn’t win anything. He never had it. Not only did Dorsey reach for him at a time when picking a Joe Thomas replacement would have made sense, he then traded a borderline All-Pro in Zeitler while anticipating Corbett was ready in Year 2. No one clears a spot for Eric Kush."

The Browns selection of Corbett in 2018 is proof as to why teams should not overdraft for position and instead draft the best available player. Corbett should not have been the 33rd overall selection, and the Browns are paying the price for picking him that high.

The key to the Browns salvaging their 2019 season

The Cleveland Browns have clear issues, which has caused them to fall to 2-4 during their toughest part of the schedule. Mitch Zoloty believes the Browns just need to relax and bear down as they can turn things around during the second half of their season.

Washington “emphatically” denies rumor of Trent Williams trade to Browns – Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk

"It could be that the two teams are talking, and that Washington wants more than the Browns are willing to offer. Some think Washington president Bruce Allen is angling for a Laremy Tunsil-type package for Williams."

The Trent Williams-Browns rumors sprung out of nowhere Tuesday, but they were not hard to believe. Despite Washington denying the rumors, there is a good chance John Dorsey is doing what he can to get Williams. Williams would instantly improve the Browns offensive line, it’s just a matter of if the stubborn Washington organization will budge.

Freddie Kitchens must lean on Jarvis Landry’s leadership

It has become clear that Freddie Kitchens was not ready to become Cleveland’s head coach. However, the organization is going to have to work through those issues. Leon West thinks Kitchens should lean on the players, especially Jarvis Landry, to help iron out the leadership problems.
