1. Baker Mayfield

We all know what the most important position in football is — the quarterback. Fairly or unfairly they get all the blame when things aren’t going right and that’s what happening in Cleveland.

It may be fair in this case because Baker Mayfield hasn’t looked good all season and his numbers back that up. 56 percent completions, five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. None of those is good enough to even be a starter in the NFL.

He hasn’t looked the same this year as he did in his rookie campaign and that’s in part due to the competition. Some of it can also be attributed to playcalling.

They are calling pass plays that take a long time to develop and the offensive line can’t give him time in the pocket and he senses that. They also don’t have a third receiving threat after losing David Njoku to a wrist injury.

Even with all of that going wrong it’s up to Mayfield to make it work. That is the job of the quarterback. He will have to take advantage of the lesser opponents coming up on the schedule.

That’s what he did at the end of last season when Cleveland fans fell in love with him. Luckily for Mayfield and the Browns, the rest of the division is bad and nine wins might get them to the playoffs. If he can do that there will be a different narrative about him at the end of the year.
