As the Cleveland Browns are looking to upgrade their offensive line, general manager John Dorsey admitted to attempts to acquire Trent Williams.

Earlier this week, the social media accounts of anyone following the Cleveland Browns were on the brink of meltdown as Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Rep reported that Trent Williams was going to be in the brown and orange soon. The trade has yet to happen and the smoke has begun to fade, but general manager John Dorsey does admit that attempts have been made to acquire the Pro Bowl tackle.

While speaking to the media earlier this week, Dorsey was asked if he had tried to acquire a tackle, obviously referring to the white whale that is Williams. His response is evident that conversations have taken place about Williams in order to improve this struggling Browns offensive line.

“We’ve had a few conversations… it takes two to tango” (Dorsey via Cleveland.com). It has been reported that Washington and general manager Bruce Allen, for whatever reason, has been unwilling to deal Williams.

This seems unprecedented considering Williams has told Washington that he will not play another down for them. What is Allen and owner Dan Snyder’s end game with Williams? Will their ego keep them from getting a high draft asset out of a player who has no intent to play for them in 2019?

The Browns are in desperate need of upgrading their offensive line, whether that is starting Wyatt Teller at right guard instead of Eric Kush, or adding another tackle to the roster.

Williams will more than likely stay on the Browns’ radar as they seek to improve in the trenches, but will Washington ever budge?
