The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including the team potentially finally prioritizing Joe Thomas’ replacement.

The Cleveland Browns were dealt a blow during the 2018 offseason when future Hall of Fame left tackle Joe Thomas announced his retirement. With the announcement occurring on the eve of free agency, the Browns were forced to scramble to find his replacement.

After missing on Nate Solder in free agency, the Browns had to find their replacement for Thomas in the draft, ultimately landing on Austin Corbett. But after Corbett was traded on Tuesday, it is clear he was the wrong man to be Thomas’ successor.

Greg Robinson was expected to fill the role until the Browns could find their future left tackle. However, he has struggled and has created more problems than helped the issue. So now, the Browns are forced to accelerate their process and could be finally prioritizing finding Joe Thomas’ replacement.

The Cleveland Browns finally need to replace Joe Thomas and prioritize offensive tackle – Doug Lesmerises, Cleveland.com

"You can’t do it all. Dorsey has prioritized rushing the passer, defending the pass, and completing passes, which is all reasonable in the modern NFL. He has tried to get by on the offensive line. That’s catching up with the Browns this season.Blame Joe Thomas."

Every team around the NFL is struggling to find high-quality offensive linemen, and the Browns are no different. But even though the Browns have brought offensive linemen into the building, they all are stopgaps compared to being long-term answers. That is starting to catch up to them, and it is time for John Dorsey to find answers on the offensive line.

Three issues the Browns need to clean up during the bye

The Cleveland Browns have shown plenty of issues that have contributed to their 2-4 start to the season. Casey Kinnamon looks at three of the main issues the Browns need to fix during the bye week.

Commentary: Bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for team that’s running out of alibis – Jim Ingraham, BrownsZone

"Talk about great timing. If ever a team needed a bye, it’s one that’s running out of alibis.Well now they’ve got a bye and not a moment too soon — for everybody. The Browns need a break from the season, and the fans need a break from the Browns. So, the bye week works well for everyone."

The Browns have time to turn around their season, but their second half of the schedule is not as easy as anticipated. If they do not find ways to clean up their problems during the bye week, the second part of the season could be as tough to watch as the first half of the season was.
