Cleveland Browns: Kareem Hunt returns to practice
By Leon West
Kareem Hunt was suspended for eight games. With two more games to serve, he has been allowed to start practicing with the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns (2-4) returned to practice on Monday in preparation for their matchup with the undefeated Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots. Things haven’t gone the way the team had hoped, but if there is something to clamor about, it’s the way Nick Chubb has been dominating in the run game.
Chubb is fourth in the league in yard per game with 101.7 and among running backs with at least 100 carries he’s second with 5.3 yards per carry. Things just got a little better for the running back room in Cleveland as Kareem Hunt was permitted to practice with the team.
Hunt is suspended for the first eight games of the season due to his involvement in a physical altercation with a female in February of 2018.
His presence being added to an already potent rushing attack gives the Browns depth in a way they haven’t seen maybe in the history of the franchise. Hunt has 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground and 833 yards and 10 touchdowns through the air in 27 games.
It’s easy to think Hunt coming back would be a seamless transition, but the lack of production in the passing game gives reason to pause. Kareem will return for the Browns in their Week 10 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Giving Hunt two weeks of practice to focus on how he will be implemented into the offense is essential to ensure the most efficiency within the offense.
The Browns are entering a portion of their schedule that most favor them to take advantage of to make a push for the AFC North title. Hunt’s return should help their cause tremendously.
