4. TreySermon. Pick Analysis. 118 overall. RB. player. 815. Scouting Report

This pick here in the fourth round is earned from the Houston Texans in exchange for former running back Duke Johnson Jr. this offseason. Currently a fourth round pick from the Texans, the Browns are just four games away from it turning into a third rounder.

The conditional pick turns into a third rounder the moment Johnson plays in his tenth game with the Texans. Given that the former Browns running back has never missed a game in his career, this seems like a given at this point in the season.

With the pick that the Browns received in exchange for Johnson, why not pick another running back? Let’s face it, Dontrell Hilliard has not been cutting it as the backup to Nick Chubb, and there is always the potential that Kareem Hunt does not hang around in Cleveland past the 2019 season as well.

Here in the fourth round and with the 118th overall pick, the Browns land Oklahoma standout ball carrier Trey Sermon. While Sermon’s carries have not always been there in a pass-heavy offense, his production has been off the charts.

Over his career, Sermon has averaged six yards per carry, and this year as a junior, he is averaging seven per touch. Needing a durable back who can relieve Chubb every once in a while, Sermon is one of the more overlooked prospects in the draft.
