The Cleveland Browns have had a hard time figuring out how to win and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi calls on his team to break their losing cycle

We all know this season hasn’t gone the way the Cleveland Browns expected it to. That point has been hashed and re-hashed throughout their first seven games of the season.

Now as we enter Week 9, the team hopes to start putting together some wins and erase the sting of their previous games. They have the talent to do it and they also have the right schedule in front of them.

Starting with the 2-6 Denver Broncos, the Browns face just two teams with a winning record in their final nine games. That doesn’t guarantee them wins though as they need to put in the work. They also need to figure out how to win.

Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi understands this and the third-year player, who is normally rather quiet, has come out to say the team needs to step up and break the cycle of losing.

"“I’ve just been here, this is my third year, and I’ve seen how things go,” Ogunjobi told The Chronicle-Telegram on Thursday via Scott Petrak. “And I was here for 0-16, 7-8-1, we’re 2-5 right now. I just see the cycle. So in order to break the cycle I felt like I just needed to speak up and just say something. I’m not saying I’m right, but just saying it’s my perspective.”"

Ogunjobi also said the Browns were expected to be a “super team” due to their talent but believes the team is killing themselves by ignoring some of the finer details. Poor discipline leads to missed assignments as well as penalties and according to Ogunjobi, they all need to hold one another accountable for fixing the problem.

Of course, he’s not the first player to come out and say such things as Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham, Jr., and even head coach Freddie Kitchens have all said they need to fix the same problems the defensive tackle mentioned. They’ve all also said it starts with them as each is trying to take accountability for the struggles, which is commendable.

Sunday will be a good chance for them to try and get some of their problems cleaned up. They’re playing a team that’s struggling even worse than they are, plus Denver will also be playing Brandon Allen under center, who has yet to throw an NFL pass.

Perhaps they could do as they did last season and stack some late-season wins on top of one another. If so, they could salvage this campaign and find themselves in the mix late in the year.

Then again, a loss on Sunday could do the exact opposite and crush their hopes completely.
