Game: Cleveland Browns (2-5) and Denver Broncos (2-6)

Summary: This week could be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Cleveland Browns. They lost once again as they were knocked off by the New England Patriots in Week 8. Losing to the defending champions isn’t something to be ashamed of, but the way they were unprepared following a bye was beyond frustrating.

They also had some issues come up afterward as OBJ questioned the playcalling and Baker Mayfield made some comments that didn’t put Freddie Kitchens in a favorable light — although that wasn’t his intention.

Perhaps all the talk and embarrassment from Week 8 will be what they need to get their act together for the final nine games — all of which are winnable contests. The first against the Denver Broncos pits them against a 2-6 franchise that will be starting a former sixth-round pick under center. A neck injury knocked out Joe Flacco and in his place will be the unproven Brandon Allen.

Cleveland should have been favored even before this development as the Broncos have been a mess on both sides of the ball for a couple of seasons now. I fully expect this to be the most complete game since the Week 4 win over the Baltimore Ravens as the Browns silence some critics for at least one week.

Score: Cleveland 31, Denver 13
