Dud: Jermaine Whitehead

Not only did he fail to perform well on the field, but Browns safety performs ten times harder on social media than he does with the pads on. After the Browns’ loss to the Broncos, a game where Whitehead again struggled mightily, he took after Twitter and Instagram users who dared call him out for his poor play, and even threatened the lives of some. His Twitter account was suspended for the threats made, and the team was forced to make a statement against the actions of their starting safety.

In his previous location with the Green Bay Packers, Whitehead was cut for multiple personal fouls and an ejection from a football game. General manager John Dorsey stated that he looks to bring in men of character, yet guys like Kareem Hunt and Whitehead find themselves on the Browns’ roster.

Whitehead is grading out at an abysmal 43.5 according to PFF, and finished Sunday’s game without making an appearance on the stat sheet. That’s correct, he failed to record a tackle for the brown and orange defense.

Missing a tackle that led to a long touchdown from Broncos’ rookie tight end Noah Fant, Whitehead was also a liability in coverage; outside of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, Whitehead has done nothing to prove that he deserves a roster spot in Cleveland, let alone a starting role.
