Stud: Baker Mayfield

On the upswing, quarterback Baker Mayfield has put together his third good game in a row for the Browns. Yes, he threw four picks in the two weeks before, but one was on a blown up play call on a lateral pass against the New England Patriots, and a couple more dropped passes and wrong routes against the Seattle Seahawks.

In Sunday’s game, Mayfield did not turn the ball over, threw for 273 yards and a touchdown, and completed nearly 65 percent of his passes. If he could have improved upon anything in this one, it would have to be giving Beckham more looks instead of forcing the ball to Landry as much as he did.

All in all, Mayfield did exactly what you would hope your franchise quarterback would do; he was efficient, and accurate for the most part. He is getting no help from his play calling this year, and the Browns offense as a whole is suffering.

Despite these offensive inefficiencies, Mayfield is still on pace for 3,900 yards on the season. Protecting the ball and tossing for nearly 300 yards in the loss, Mayfield did his part as the Browns’ defense failed to stop the Broncos and as head coach Freddie Kitchens again failed to manage his timeouts.
