Not everything done by general manager John Dorsey has worked out, but he’s had plenty of success in his short tenure with the Cleveland Browns. Here, we look at the top five moves he has made for them.

Current Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey has had a strong record of success everywhere he has been. This article focuses on five of the most  positive personnel decisions he has made, out of the hundreds of others that he has made in his two year tenure with the Browns. A future article will discuss a few moves that did not work out so well.

Conspicuous by his absence on this list is Denzel Ward, the Pro Bowl cornerback taken at fourth overall. The reason is that if you look at who else was available — defensive end Bradley Chubb was the consensus pick — he was very good also, with 13 sacks as a rookie.

So you cannot say that the Browns dodged a bullet by not drafting Nick Chubb’s second cousin. Jeepers, Jimmy Haslam’s homeless guy could have drafted someone good in that draft.

In reverse order, the five best moves are judged to be as follows:

5.  Signing the Scottish Hammer, Jamie Gillan — yes an undrafted punter makes the list but he’s no average punter.

4.  Drafting Greedy WIlliams in the second round of the 2018 draft.

3.  Signing Jarvis Landry to a $75.5 million dollar contract after landing him in a trade with the Miami Dolphins

2.  Drafting Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick despite that being an unpopular pic.

1.  Drafting Nick Chubb in the second round.
