Are Cleveland Browns thinking about an Odell Beckham trade already?

Mike Freeman from Bleacher Report recently posted an article about the possibility of Odell Beckham, Jr. being traded if the Cleveland Browns continue to struggle into next season. I’ll discuss why this is possible but ultimately ridiculous in this article.

Rumors are already starting that the Cleveland Browns could be looking to trade Odell Beckham, Jr. soon as Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report has gotten some heads spinning with his idea of a future move in The Land. There is a caveat though, as these reports are saying a move will only be considered should the team’s struggles continue in 2020.

Now, to be clear here, this is a rumor and not something that is being or should be considered by general manager John Dorsey. I state here and now that if Dorsey was to trade OBJ after giving up a first round pick for him, after just one year on this team, it would be the start to his decline as the Cleveland.

Continuing to be clear, the loss of OBJ on this team would be toxic for Cleveland. Losing a big name, asset to the team, and a generational talent all because of some of the poorest coaching in the last decade would ruin this team. Yes, he’s only one player.  Yes, he hasn’t produced except in two games this season.

However, in those two games, the Browns won or should have won.  The same can be said for Jarvis Landry. When either of these players have over 100 yards receiving the team plays well and wins or should win.

In the article from Mike Freeman, he goes on to applaud the Ravens offense, calling it “Violent” and “Difficult to practice against.”

Seeing as that was proven false in week four this season, I argue this article loses all credibility. Realistically, the Browns could look to move the higher paid talent that is not producing, only makes sense for the business, however, to move a social media giant, a year after trading for him, and who knows what you would get in return, is a terrible idea.

Closing thoughts on this possibility, no.

If the team is still a dumpster fire, OBJ isn’t producing, and the coaching still is allowing the team to quit when the going gets tough, fire sale the team, not just OBJ. Acquire draft picks and rebuild, do not single out a man who embraced this city and its fans only to be tossed to the side like a pair of joker cleats.

Utilize your talent, especially when they’re begging for the ball, or change your coaching. Sorry Freddie.
