The Browns are running a tremendous amount of 12 personnel, which means they have one running back on the field and two tight ends. While Ricky Seals-Jones has been a promising player for the Browns in the absence of David Njoku, can he really be counted on long term? Njoku too has just two years left on his deal, and has not really shown the explosiveness that was touted when he was drafted.

Adding another tight end in the middle rounds of the draft for the brown and orange seems like a wise investment in Cleveland, and here they land another Senior Bowl attendee in Jared Pinkney from Vanderbilt. Preseason, Pinkney was given a first-round grade by the advisory board, but as others climb and the tight end position is not one of high priority, he has begun to slip.

Coming off of a junior campaign where he had seven touchdowns and 774 receiving yards on 50 catches, Pinkney has managed just 15 catches for 157 yards on a subpar Commodore offense in 2019. At 6-4 and 260 pounds, Pinkney has shown the ability to be a consistent pass catcher and a solid run blocker in his tenure at Vanderbilt; a balanced combination that the Browns desperately need.
