The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Kareem Hunt knowing the importance of the Steelers game.

When the Cleveland Browns take the field on Thursday night, they know they need to beat Pittsburgh to keep any hopes of making the playoffs alive. But Browns running back Kareem Hunt knows the game is important for another reason.

Growing up in Cleveland, Hunt understands the old rivalry between the two teams, even if the rivalry does not exist anymore. Hunt knows Cleveland fans do not like the Steelers, and it generally works the other way around too.

With the rivalry practically dead, most new players do not know about the intense games between the Browns and Steelers. But that is no issue for Hunt since he grew up watching the tightly fought AFC North battles.

Kareem Hunt gets this Browns vs. Steelers rivalry: ‘I’ve been watching this my whole life’ – Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"While other Browns players are learning about the rivalry from fans while out at restaurants or a convenience store, Hunt lived it as a kid growing up in Cleveland.“Yeah, it was [big],’’ he said. “Honestly, some family members of mine are still Steelers fans. In Cleveland, some people are Steelers fans and some people are Browns fans.”"

Since the Steelers have dominated the matchup for the past decade, Browns-Steelers does not have the feel of a heated rivalry anymore. But with players like Hunt playing in Thursday’s game, he’ll bring the extra emotion that can get things stirred up on the field quickly. And once other players feed off his energy and emotions, it can quickly return to a feeling of a rivalry.

Browns high-priced receivers pay off in Week 10

The Cleveland Browns have a lot of money being directed at Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, but with little reward. That changed against the Buffalo Bills as Martin McConnell discusses the important contributions from Beckham and Landry.

‘Everything’s at stake.’ Cleveland Browns know playoffs longshot without win over Pittsburgh Steelers – Matthew Florjancic, WKYC.com

"“It’s been a minute, and so, from that standpoint, it’s going to be huge for us to continue to put another one, lay another brick in the foundation. We can’t be a team, at this point now, to win one, lose one, win one, lose one. We have to try to put a stretch together, and I think that’s the main focus, continuing to stay 1-0 this week.”"

The Cleveland Browns dug themselves into a hole during the first half of the season after winning only two of their first eight games. Now it’s already crunch time for the Browns because they cannot lose many more games this season, if any, if they want to reach the playoffs. The Steelers provide a stiff test for the Browns, but a test they need to pass.
