Stud: Khadarel Hodge

A former undrafted receiver from Prairie View A&M, KhaDarel Hodge had the biggest game of his young career. As a rookie with the Los Angeles Rams last season, Hodge had just two receptions for 17 yards.

He then joined the Browns this year and entered the night with only one reception for 10 yards — as he was mostly used on special teams before this contest.

However, he wound up seeing the field more than expected due to some breaking news that happened before the game. Hours before the Thursday Night game, news broke that the team was waiving Antonio Callaway, who is also facing a 10-game suspension.

Hodge made the most of his opportunity as he had two big plays on Cleveland’s second scoring drive. First, he pulled in a deep pass from Baker Mayfield which originally was called a 59-yard reception.

However, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin challenged the play saying he was down earlier than that. He won the challenge but Hodge still gained 41-yards and moved it to the Pittsburgh 23.

Hodge wasn’t done as he drew a pass interference on Joe Haden on a third-and-goal from the seven. That gave Cleveland another shot to get it in the end zone and Mayfield found Jarvis Landry for an easy score to go up 14-0 in the second quarter.
