Myles Garrett had his indefinite suspension upheld by the NFL but the Cleveland Browns star stood by claims that a racial slur prompted his on-field attack

Myles Garrett tried to take the high road. Facing an indefinite suspension for hitting Mason Rudolph in the head last Thursday, he went into his appeal and tried to make his case. The Cleveland Browns defensive end didn’t go to the media and only used that platform to express his sincere apology.

As for Rudolph, he took every opportunity to show the world he was the victim. Not only did he attack Garrett’s character but he practically absolved himself from wrongdoing — simply because he “had a bone to pick.”

Even with Garrett trying his best to keep everything out of the court of public opinion, word leaked that he claimed a racial slur from Rudolph prompted his attack. Garrett didn’t say this for the cameras but while pleading his case in what he believed to be a private appeal.

Still, the league upheld his suspension and said there was no evidence to prove his claim. Garrett responded maturely by saying “I know what I heard.” He also added more apologies while saying no matter what happened, he should have been better.

He comes out of this looking much more mature than Rudolph but will still spend the rest of the year watching from home — and then the league will decide in the offseason whether or not he can come back.

Browns’ Myles Garrett Doubles Down On Rudolph Racial Slur Claim, ‘I Know What I Heard’ — TMZ

"“I was assured that the hearing was space that afforded the opportunity to speak openly and honestly about the incident that led to my suspension,” Garrett says. “This was not meant for public dissemination, nor was it a convenient attempt to justify my actions or restore my image in the eyes of those I disappointed.”"

After saying he knew what he heard, Garrett went on to tell everyone he thought the hearing was supposed to be private. So while Rudolph and Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin want to put all the blame on Garrett and ruin his name, he continues to do his best not to paint anyone in a bad light. Too bad the league didn’t take being a class act into account.

NFL Finds ‘No Evidence’ Mason Rudolph Called Myles Garrett A Racial Slur — CBS 2 Pittsburgh

"“According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the NFL found no evidence to support Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph called Myles Garrett a racial slur during the Steelers-Browns brawl last week.”"

Well, they also didn’t find proof Garrett was lying. So, might as well side with the guy who has made the media tour where he did nothing but point fingers.

Cleveland Browns facing trap game vs Dolphins

With all the off-field news, one might have forgotten there was still a game to play on Sunday. Hopefully, the Browns are locked in though, because facing the Dolphins could end up being a trap game.
