3 under the radar Cleveland Browns who need to shine in Week 13
Stephen Carlson (Again)
During Week 11’s contest between the Steelers and Browns, Cleveland tight end Stephen Carlson made his name known to the NFL world in the fourth quarter. As a relative unknown commodity in the absence of David Njoku, Carlson stepped up to make a touchdown catch that would prove to be the dagger in Cleveland’s 21-7 win.
Now, the Browns will likely be using Carlson in their game plan again in Week 13. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Princeton product could be a very valuable asset. Carlson displayed sure hands, serious ball skills, and immense concentration in Week 11. In the crazed environment that is Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field, the Browns will need Carlson’s production to come out on top.
During his time at Princeton, Carlson saw plenty of use as a pass catcher. His junior season with the Tigers in 2017 included 71 catches for 935 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Browns have two big bodies for Baker Mayfield to throw to already in Njoku and Ricky Seals-Jones. Adding Stephen Carlson to the mix could create serious problems for Pittsburgh’s talented defense.
The Browns are trying to win in Pittsburgh for the first time since the 2003 regular season. Another tremendous touchdown grab from the 22-year-old Carlson could be just what the doctor ordered for a win over the black and yellow.
