Duck Hodges will struggle just like Mason Rudolph

Last week, Hodges replaced Mason Rudolph in the third quarter against the Bengals and led the Steelers to a win against the worst team in the league.

He completed just five passes, but it was for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also was sacked twice holding onto the ball too long.

Rudolph was even worse last week and that’s why he won’t start this week. He has been bad all season, averaging 181 yards per game with a quarterback rating of just 33. He was even worse last time they played the Browns, throwing four interceptions and leading the offense to no points.

Hodges likely won’t be that, it would be hard for anybody to be that bad. But he will struggle against a Cleveland defense that has been leading the way all season.

Hodges likely won’t have much of a running game to help him because Mack Wilson and Joe Schobert have been outstanding lately. He will also need to look out for Schobert in pass coverage as well.

Hodges doesn’t need to be great for Pittsburgh to win. Mike Tomlin said he put him last week because “he doesn’t kill us,” and that is all he has to do this week. Easier said than done against an improving Browns defense.
