Cleveland Browns: 3-Step blueprint to Week 13 victory over Steelers
Keep Your Cool
Thankfully for Cleveland and its fans, the fight between Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph did not kill the Browns and cost them the game. However, Cleveland did lose Garrett for the rest of the season, and maybe even more beyond that. Week 13’s Cleveland Browns has to be a different story. The Browns have to keep their cool.
Especially on the defensive line, where the Browns’ greatest strength once was, they cannot afford to lose another piece. Losing a second defensive end like Olivier Vernon would totally deplete Cleveland’s depth on the front line.
All across the defensive side, and especially in the defensive secondary, staying calm is a necessity for an emotional team like the Browns.
Not only do the Browns need to avoid another fight like in Week 11, but they need to avoid giving up big plays on mental mistakes and the frankly stupid penalties that have plagued them all season long.
Last week, the Cincinnati Bengals made one mental mistake against Pittsburgh that resulted in a 79-yard touchdown throw from Devlin Hodges.
Keeping big plays to a minimum is key for every NFL defense, but for the Browns, they need to stay on top of the Steelers the entire game. They cannot suffer the same fate as the Bengals.
