Stud: Kareem Hunt

A rare mistake from Jarvis Landry put Cleveland in a hole just before the half and Kareem Hunt helped bail them out. An illegal shift gave them a 1st-and-13 from their own four-yard line. It was a terrible spot to be in and brought back memories of the safety in Week 1 when the Tennessee Titans sacked Baker Mayfield in the end zone for a safety.

This week, they got out of trouble as Kareem Hunt ripped off a 16-yard run which moved the ball to the 20. Two plays later, he once again got a 16-yard gain which gave them a shot at trying to get into field goal range. They failed in that endeavor but Hunt did his job on that drive, which is no surprise because he was on top of his game all day.

On the day, Hunt finished with 46 yards on just seven rushes while adding another 19 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. More importantly, he proved to be selfless on the field as he constantly lined up in the backfield with Nick Chubb and was delivering blocks whenever the feature back got the ball.

For as much bad we saw in this week’s loss, it was encouraging to see how well Chubb and Hunt work together in the backfield. He’s a free agent at the end of the season but it wouldn’t hurt the team to bring him back for another year. — at least.
