Denzel and Greedy both get interceptions.

One of the most disappointing aspects of the 2019 Cleveland Browns defense has been the lack of turnovers that have been generated. Looking at this defense on paper, it was hard to imagine a scenario where takeaways weren’t a frequent occurrence.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

The Browns only have 11 interceptions on the year and none of those are by their young starting cornerbacks.

Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams have both played eight games so far this season and neither of them has recorded an interception. It is not from a lack of opportunities. Both young cornerbacks have seen their fair share of footballs thrown in their direction in recent weeks.

On many occasions, even on the big receptions they have given up, they were in perfect position but just haven’t been turning and getting their eyes on the ball. Just by that process alone, they have taken the ability to make plays on the football away from themselves. Coach Kitchens has publicly challenged his young corners to trust in their technique and make plays on the football.

This week, both Ward and Williams will both get off the proverbial snide against the Bengals. The Cleveland corners will each get their first interceptions of the season, for Williams it will also be the first of his professional career.
