Cleveland Browns: 5 Cardinals to watch in Week 15
Kliff Kingsbury
Now I know this isn’t typically where you would see a coach’s name, but I think it would be malpractice to not mention Kliff Kingsbury here. The first-year head coach is over three quarters through his first season at the helm in Arizona and is leading a rebuild. There are still some veteran elements to his Cardinals team, but the facelift is already underway.
Kingsbury is the latest college coach to bring his system to the pro level in hopes that it would translate. The organization went out and got the quarterback Kingsbury wanted in the draft. The results have been mixed so far.
His offense has been able to move the ball, but it hasn’t translated to wins. At 3-9-1, the Cardinals sit in the basement of the NFC West but have been in several games that they just were not able to seal the deal. Browns fans can relate.
With Kingsbury’s connection to Baker Mayfield expect several split-screen camera shots of the two during the game. More will probably be made of the significance of it by the media than should be attributed to it, but it is an underlying motivational factor for both Kingsbury and Mayfield in this matchup.
The bottom line is Kingsbury is a young hungry coach who is trying to prove his methods can work in the NFL. It’s up to the Browns to prove that it’s not going to work this week.
