Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield speaks on Odell Beckham, Jr. rumors
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns have had a lot of rumors swirling around Odell Beckham, Jr. and now quarterback Baker Mayfield has decided to speak on the situation
By now we have all heard the rumors. Odell Beckham, Jr. has apparently been unhappy with the Cleveland Browns and some reporters are saying he’s gone out and told teams to go after him in the offseason.
Clearly, the frustration from OBJ comes from the team’s failure to get him the ball as often as he’s used to. In addition to that, he’s been playing through pain all season and there are now questions about how the Browns medical staff handled that.
What we haven’t heard much is how this talk is going over in the locker room. Are teammates growing frustrated with OBJ eyeing other teams? Do they believe that’s actually happening?

Well we get some answers now that one prominent member of the team has spoken up. Quarterback Baker Mayfield spoke on the situation and was asked if he believed Beckham will be on the field for Cleveland next season.
"“I can’t answer that for him,’’ Mayfield said Wednesday via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “There are all the rumors going around, but I have had my conversations with him and I know what we talk about so I trust him wholeheartedly.”"
Mayfield not only said he trusts his receiver but again reiterated that all OBJ wants to do is win. And he highlighted what a warrior he’s been fighting through a sports hernia that will need surgery in the offseason.
Still, that doesn’t answer whether Beckham is indeed happy with the team. What it did show is that he hasn’t lost the faith of his team.
Mayfield has never shied away from the truth, even calling out Duke Johnson in the offseason for not wanting to be on the team. That means he has a better relationship with OBJ and has no intention of sharing anything unless Beckham does so first.
It also proves that even if Beckham is unhappy here, Mayfield isn’t mad at him and likely understands where he’s coming from.
Of course, we all know winning would cure everything. If Cleveland wins their final three games and goes 9-7, it would surely help Beckham feel happier with his new surroundings.
If not, he may grow tired and start to get a wandering eye. All we know for sure is the rumor mill won’t slow down anytime soon.
