Baker throws for over 350

Timing and perspective are everything. If the following prediction had been made going into Week 15 of 2018, it would have sounded more like a probability. But going into Week 15 of 2019, the following prediction sounds like a long-shot at best.

Baker Mayfield will throw for over 350 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. All three of those statistical categories sound improbable for Mayfield to attain in his tumultuous sophomore season.

If Mayfield throws for over 350 yards, it would be a season-high. 342 yards is the most that Mayfield has thrown for in any game this season, and he did that way back in Week 4. The prediction of two touchdowns and zero interceptions all comes down to the number three. Mayfield has only thrown for multiple touchdowns in three games this season. Conversely, he hasn’t thrown an interception in only three games this year.

However, this week Mayfield faces a struggling Arizona Cardinals secondary. So far this season, the Cardinals have given up the most completions, yards, and touchdowns in the NFL. They have also only recorded six interceptions, which puts them near the very bottom of the league.

The 3,825 passing yards that the Cardinals have surrendered is 200 more yards than the next closest team. Opposing quarterbacks are having their way with this Cardinals team through the air. This is a great opportunity for Mayfield to get back on track with his receivers and put up some big numbers.
