Not long before the game, reports suggested the Cleveland Browns were happy to stick with head coach Freddie Kitchens but he might have changed their minds

Not long before the Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals took the field in Week 15, there were reports that head coach Freddie Kitchens was going to be safe heading into the offseason.

Of course, there was a caveat that as long as the team didn’t completely implode in the final three games. Just hours after this report, it seems as though the team did exactly that.

Facing a Cardinals team that came into the week at 3-9-1, the Browns looked completely overmatched. They were beaten in all phases of the game and ended up losing 38-24.

In the loss, they allowed Kyler Murray to throw for 219 yards while running another 56. They also had no answers for Kenyan Drake who managed 137 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

On offense, they wasted another great performance from Nick Chubb (127 yards rushing and a touchdown) and failed to get Odell Beckham, Jr. or Jarvis Landry into a good rhythm — again.

While they aren’t mathematically eliminated from the playoffs following the loss, there’s no realistic scenario where they will make it to the postseason. Even more frustrating is the fact that they once again have no shot at a winning season, meaning they still have not had one since 2007.

As for Kitchens, it could force the hand of the front office. They might not want to part ways after just one season but it’s clear this team does not believe in him.

Not only were they porous on the field, but they also had no problem getting into the face of their coach as Jarvis Landry was seen yelling at Kitchens on the sideline.

With all this going on, it makes it seem nearly impossible to bring him back for a second season.

Cleveland doesn’t want to do this as they have turned over coaches at an alarming rate but it’s hard to argue that Kitchens has the faith of this roster.
