Cleveland Browns: 5 college head coaches to replace Freddie Kitchens
2. Jim Harbaugh – University of Michigan
If John Dorsey were to hire Jim Harbaugh, many Browns fans would call for him to be fired immediately as general manager of the Cleveland Browns. Harbaugh is a coach that most every fan in Ohio has rooted against since he took over as head coach at his alma mater in 2015.
While he’s been a good coach in his five years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, amassing 47 wins in five seasons there, he’s always struggled to win the biggest games of the year and has yet to beat the biggest rival, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

While many would raise their noses to this hire in disgust, Harbaugh has proven his worth as an NFL head coach. In four seasons running the show in San Francisco, Harbaugh won 44 games and led his team to the Super Bowl in 2012. He also made Colin Kaepernick look his best, as since Harbaugh’s departure, Kaepernick lost his starting quarterback job and has been out of the league for several years now.
Harbaugh may not have yet to show off his quarterback development skills at Michigan, but the work he did with the 49er’s quarterback room was enough to warrant another look in the NFL. He’s another high I.Q. football coach that can get the most out of all his player and would have success given the resources already in place on the Cleveland Browns roster.
Harbaugh also loves to scout and had pretty good success at drafting in his previous time as an NFL head coach. If given the opportunity to lead the Browns, he would be a great coach to help the offense become one of the best in the league and find the right guys to get the most out of the defense as well. It would also set up a Harbaugh-bowl matchup twice a year. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
