Cleveland Browns: New staff gets to work in 7-round mock draft
The 2019 offseason had plenty of moves for the Cleveland Browns, but John Dorsey made some strong moves at linebacker. After releasing Jamie Collins and signing Adarius Taylor from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he spent two draft picks on linebackers Sione Takitaki and Mack Wilson.
The only real successful move out of those by Dorsey was the drafting of Mack Wilson, who has made a good impact as his playing time has increased week to week. While Wilson has been playing well, the unknown future of Joe Schobert and the other misses leaves question marks in the middle of the Browns defense.
With their final selection in this mock draft, the Browns select Kamal Martin out of Minnesota to try and help answer those questions.
Martin is a physical linebacker who loves to hit anyone who dares to come near him with the football. With four forced fumbles in his career, he has a knack for getting the ball loose from even the most sure-handed runners.
Martin is a sure tackler who doesn’t allow many players to get by him once he gets his hands on them. His long arms make him a pain to deal with in the passing game too, as he just finds a way to make the windows the quarterback thinks are there close by throwing his arms out there.
Martin would likely be a key contributor on the kickoff team, and with some work on his pass coverage, could find himself being an every-down linebacker in the future.
