5. The Browns will cover the spread

This isn’t a prediction that you would normally see in Dawg Pound Daily’s weekly bold predictions, but it may be the boldest of the five that you are about to read. The Cleveland Browns will cover the spread against the Baltimore Ravens.

All logical signs point to a Raven blow-out on Sunday. The Raven’s opened up as a 9.5-point favorite against the Browns this week. For all intents and purposes, because betting lines move, we will be using the 9.5-point spread for this prediction.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

That is a huge spread for an NFL game, it makes it even bigger that it is a road game for the Ravens. It’s scary to think about what the spread would have been if the game was in Baltimore. Vegas actually gave the Browns some credit by making the spread under double digits.

The Ravens have won their last six games by an average of 23 points, and that’s with two one-score games in that span. When the Ravens decide to throttle an opponent, they really put the hammer down.

What makes this writer think the Browns can cover the spread? In short, because that just the kind of season it has been. The Browns are as talented as any team in the league. But if you take all that talent and add two dollars it might be enough to buy you a cheap cup of gas station coffee.

However, talent can either play up or play down to the level of competition it is facing. This week, Cleveland will be playing way up to the Ravens’ level of competition. Browns’ fans will not want to hear this but covering the spread against this Ravens team at this point in the season would be the Browns’ biggest win since week four.
