2. Both Higgins and Njoku will see the field and make a play

This prediction isn’t as much of a longshot as it is a leap of faith…over the Grand Canyon. Ready for it? Here it goes, not only will both Rashard Higgins and David Njoku play in the game on Sunday, but they will also both record a reception. Boom! Crazy, I know right?

Coming into 2019, both Higgins and Njoku were thought to be interval pieces to the Browns offense. Higgins was Baker Mayfield’s security blanket in 2018, and Njoku was the Browns red zone and short-area specialist in last year’s passing game.

In 2019, both Higgins and Njoku were injured early in the season. The duo also returned from injury only to struggle to see the field for reasons never publicly stated. The speculation is that they found their way into Freddie Kitchens’ doghouse. Even with the chemistry they already previously developed with Mayfield, there does not appear to be a defined role for either player.

Njoku should see more playing time than Higgins just based on the position he plays, but nothing is guaranteed, especially this season. The Browns appear to want to get a good look at Stephen Carlson to see if he may possibly have a role on the team going forward. Even with competition at the position Njoku should see a few targets.

Higgins, for reasons unknown, has been a complete afterthought this season. With as little as he is being used, it’s actually a miracle he even has a roster spot. In the face of all evidence to the contrary, ‘Hollywood’ Higgins will make a rare guest appearance, and he will catch a football. It’s an early Christmas miracle.
